Rowallan Camp Experience

It never crossed my mind that I will go camping in my mid twenties, I have never camped before and this was an opportunity I couldn’t miss.    I have heard interesting stories about camping but this one I had to witness it for myself.   Defining the camp experience  The camp had a unique surrounding with tall trees and monkeys chirping around, the best place for social, emotional and physical balance.  Getting to know each other, playing games and interacting with mother nature made this camp exciting, intriguing and full of fun.   

Activities at the camp

We quickly kicked off by presenting our social Entrepreneur Businesses, then a session on social entrepreneurship by Dr. Paul Moturi, this opened our minds deeper to understand how to anchor the problem we had chosen to work on as a squad.

At this point, a quick cup of tea was really necessary, before getting back to the Design thinking session and ways of pitching by MR. Emmanuel Nandokha. 

Most importantly, Mr Emmanuel Nandokha helped us rethink constructively on our project in areas that we had not clearly defined coming up with a more lively and significant project. After which we had a lunch break and later in the evening a wonderfully fun activity. 

My squad (the swans) prepared supper, while other squads cleaned and prepared for the born fire. (the highlight of the day)   Interesting games and conversations through the night, laughter and chattering were the norms, it was a night of a kind.     We welcomed a new day sleeping only for a few hours. After breakfast prepared by squad iconic, we joined for another effective session of unmasking yourselves. Showing the true you and not hiding behind the masks of smiles, cynical jokes, and pleasing others, in that people don’t get to see you for who you are.  Understand yourself and define what you are filling.    We later enjoyed the amazing grace puzzle-solving activity.      It was rewarding after completing in the end, we enjoyed our lunch and celebrated those who stood out in self-leadership during the camp, we concluded and left the camp.    Conclusion  “If you want to go fast, go alone. if you want to go far, go together. ”  – African Proverb
